OUR STORY

While the real roots of our work are ancient, this story began in 2014,. It all started when our mother inspired us to set up a tutoring community for young neighborhood kids. Being children of immigrants, we understood their conundrum - the desire to be accepted and excel, along with the identity of culture. Little did we know that this experiment would guide our careers and this endeavor. To this day, this continues to be a family operation…And yes, we include your presence as part of our family!

Subsequently, in 2020, Keshav, one of our co-founders, enhanced the venture with media productions and educational programs in local schools. Noticing the alienation and confusion that many young people were facing, he decided to approach schools with curriculum and classroom programs. Furthermore, he began creating content that was rooted in introspection, wellbeing, and collective spirit.

WHO WE ARE

Today, we continue to work in the education and media spaces. In schools and universities, we design learning experiences for students and educators centered on creativity and inquiry. Inspired by teachers and philosophers who came before us, we strive to revolutionize the classrooms that made us. Through our media platform, we create content in various forms founded on the principle that the contributor is also a seeker. So, everything from the topic to production involves the community and perspectives of those it is meant to serve. Check them out on our Media page above!

As we mentioned, this is a family movement, which not only includes partners, parents, and friends, but also YOU. With that said, meet our founders:

Why This Logo?

Why This Logo?

The R is grounded on and inspried by the Ashwatha Tree. This is an inverted banyan tree in the ancient Eastern traditions- the roots facing the sky, and the branches at the bottom. While we are beautifully diverse like the branches, we are unified by our collective existence - our ROOTS.

The ROOTS Movement is a journey of discovering our uniqueness within our diversity.

Why This Name & Onwards

Serendipitously, the name and acronym came naturally to us. We see ourselves as seekers before seeing ourselves as contributors. We feel that through our work and content, we are engaging with self-inquiry.

In all, we are a community, seeking to learn more about ourselves and grow in the process of helping our communities. Everything from our mindful mentorship programs, philosophical podcasts & design workshops, are all branches of The ROOTS Movement .

So, join the collective! Whether you are a brand, school, individual, or creative, we are willing to find our intersections. We persistently collaborate with schools, brands, & partners worldwide! Whether it is organizations in India, schools in Barbados, or classrooms in Brooklyn, we are blessed to expand the work across the world. Join us in Realizing Our Own True Selves
